The book ‘Head of Hussein’ (Ra’s al Hussein) is a comprehensive English Maqtal devoted to the journey, stand, martyrdom, and aftermath of Imam al Hussein ibn Ali {a.s}, the grandson of the Messenger of Allah {saws} and the Chief of Martyrs.

This work has been authored and compiled by a humble servant of the Ahlulbayt {a.s}, Haydar Ali Shaykh ibn Muhammad. BAB UL QAIM PUBLICATIONS is the publishing house of this book, dedicated to preserving and spreading the remembrance of Imam al Hussein {a.s}, the tragedy of Karbala, and the teachings of the Ahlulbayt {a.s}. This work is presented for academic and devotional purposes, allowing readers to access, reflect upon, and share the message of Karbala.

The narrative draws upon early Maqtal literature, major historical compilations, and later scholarly works that preserved the memory of Ashura across generations. It follows the events from Medinah to Mecca, from the letters of Kufa to the mission of Muslim ibn Aqil, from the journey toward Iraq to the plains of Karbala, and from the night before Ashura to the martyrdom of Imam al Hussein {a.s}, his family, and his loyal companions.
